Wardian London
Wardian London is a residential-led development in London Borough of Tower Hamlets, south of Canary Wharf in London’s Docklands E14. The development consists of two 55- and 50-storey botanically inspired towers comprising 764-apartment suites, restaurants, shops, a rooftop sky lounge and a 25-metre open-air swimming pool.
There will be retail, leisure and café facilities at the ground and first floor. Integral to the development is the creation of a new, landscaped public plaza in the western part of the site, opening it up to South Dock, which is just north of the site. In addition to the high-end apartments, the project boasts commercial, leisure facilities and innovative sky gardens.
With a site this large and complex, Wardian need a comprehensive fire detection and alarm system which complies to the UK standards for both residential and commercial spaces.
The challenges
- The new system must provide both an L3 detection system to the residential corridors comprising smoke detection and manual call points and a full L1 system to the main landlord commercial areas. This will require the installation of over 1,500 field devices.
- All this requires the design of over 250 interfaces which must communicate with various third-party systems
- A system is required which only alerts those in immediate danger, helping to minimise disruption to other residents and landlords.
Technology provided
Based upon the building layout and the types of devices and interfaces required, we installed a Gent Vigilon system. The system comprises 16 detection loops connected across a network of 4 control and indicating panels.
Outcome
Clymac’s expertise and knowledge of multiple fire systems means Wardian can be confident all the complex requirements have been accommodated for, ensuring the building is protected to the highest of UK standards.
